Hey, I'm Amanda

I'm so pleased you're here.

If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're feeling exhausted, frustrated or simply not quite yourself anymore. Perhaps you've tried different diets, bought supplements that are now sitting in the cupboard, or promised yourself that you'll start looking after your health when life becomes less busy.

I understand, because I've been there too.

My journey into nutrition didn't begin in a classroom. It began with my own health.

At 24, after a severe bout glandular fever, I developed ME. For six months I was almost completely bedridden. I was so exhausted that even eating a meal felt like hard work.

It was one of the most difficult periods of my life.

I'd always dreamed of having a family, yet lying in bed I genuinely wondered whether that dream would ever become reality.

Thankfully, my dad found a naturopathic doctor who looked at my health differently. Rather than masking symptoms, he focused on understanding what my body needed to recover. That experience opened my eyes to the incredible impact that nutrition and lifestyle can have on our wellbeing.

A few years later, during my first pregnancy, I developed gestational diabetes - managed entirely through what I ate, no medication. I went on to have four children, all over 9lbs, which carried a significant risk for Type 2 diabetes later in life. It reinforced something I'd already learned - our future health isn't fixed - the choices we make every day really do matter.

That simple idea has stayed with me ever since.

Small, consistent steps can completely change the direction of your health.

For many years I continued working as a chartered accountant while raising our four wonderful children. But I found myself becoming increasingly fascinated by nutrition. I was forever reading, learning and sharing health tips with friends, and eventually one of them said something that changed my life:

"Have you ever thought about retraining?"

Just days later I discovered the College of Naturopathic Medicine, and in my mid-forties I took a leap of faith.

Balancing family life, part-time accountancy work and studying wasn't always easy, but I loved every minute of learning. I qualified as a Nutritional Therapist with a Credit and finally found the career I felt I was meant to do.

Life then took another unexpected turn.

My husband, Mark, had always dreamed of living in the Lake District, and together we made what many people thought was a crazy decision - we sold our family home and moved to Ambleside to run Haven Cottage, a bed and breakfast.

Running a B&B was one of the most rewarding - and demanding - things I've ever done. I loved creating nourishing breakfasts using quality local ingredients, developing healthier recipes and looking after our guests. But after four years, I realised something important.

Although I enjoyed caring for people, what I really missed was helping them transform their health.

So I returned to what I truly love.

Today, through One Step a Week, I help women over 40 improve their energy, sleep, digestion and confidence through personalised nutrition and realistic lifestyle coaching.

My approach is different because I don't believe in perfection, punishment or trying to change everything overnight.

Real life doesn't work like that.

Instead, we'll work together to understand what's happening in your body, identify what matters most and take one manageable step at a time.

Because that's how lasting change happens.

It's how I rebuilt my own health.

It's how I've navigated life's twists and turns.

And it's how I've seen my clients create changes that last long after the programme has finished.

When I'm not working with clients, you'll usually find me walking in the beautiful Lake District with Mark and our dogs, trying a new healthy recipe or planning my next adventure with our four grown-up children.

Helping people feel like themselves again is a privilege I'll never take for granted.

If you're ready to stop just getting through each day and start feeling healthier, happier and more confident again, I'd love to help you take that first step.

After all...

Small steps do not mean small results.

They can change your health.

They can change your confidence.

And sometimes, they can change your whole life.

My Philosophy

Being a naturopathic nutritionist I focus on the following 5 areas of health: nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress, and mindset, as I believe these all have an important role to play in our health.

Having listened to my clients, I have created One Step a Week to make simple, sustainable shifts in nutrition, lifestyle, and mindset. My goal is to show you that lasting change doesn’t require an overhaul or endless willpower - it’s about building energy and health one step at a time.
